Bob Mould - Silver Age

Green Day & Bob Mould

My love for Bob Mould and Green Day was reaffirmed and strengthened this month with two absolutely wicked shows. Bob did a freebie at Williamsburg Park in which he played Copper Blue in its entirety and unleashed a handful from new Sugar-y The Silver Age CD which he said was written in a hot minute.

Green Day put on a 2.5 hours+ clinic at the gloriously intimate Irving Plaza. They had appeared on America’s Got Talent and Billie Joe Armstrong saved some cred by referring to it as America’s not talent. They played half a dozen new ones, represented all phases in their career, and did bits of Crazy Train, Stairway to Heaven, Shout, and Highway to Hell – during which I had an insight to their genius – they mix Angus Young style guitar with Johnny Ramone style guitar!
