I’m crazy about The Beths and they were as charming as I imagined they would be while diving into details about the creation of their latest album Straight Line Was a Lie. Leaders Liz Stokes and Jonathan Pierce represented the quartet and revealed the significance of that album’s title as well as the previous one Expert in a Dying Field. Liz explained how she wrote 10 pages a day for 6 weeks stream of consciousness style that gave her great fodder to pull from when finalizing lyrics. As far as the recording goes, Jonathan spoke about how they used not so oblique strategies to remind them of their identity.
