It’s been my pleasure to work with Dennis Elsas over the past 7 years at WFUV radio.  To paraphrase the fat man in The Maltese Falcon, I’m a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk and what an engaging, encyclopedic, and enthusiastic guy Dennis is when it comes to music. Beginning as an FM radio personality at WNEW in 1971 and continuing at Sirius/XM and WFUV, he’s interviewed more immortal artists and lived through more music history than pretty much anybody!  Dennis hosts a dynamite multi-media show called Rock ‘N’ Roll Never Forgets that he’ll be putting on in Suffern, New York this Saturday October 3, 2015.

An amazing group of Disc Jockeys spins under the Mobile Mondays! flag at The Bowery Electric.  They all have their own unique style under a unifying aesthetic of playing 45 RPM records with great passion and knowledge.  I had the pleasure of catching a hang with a pair of the resident DJ’s – Joey Carvello and Operator EMZ – as well as a very special guest at last Monday’s hootenanny: hip hop pioneer Grandmaster Caz, who had just hopped off a plane from the west coast where he performed with Macklemore & Lewis at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Steve Reynolds – whose sets span the 1990’s – works his DJ magic at The Bell House on or about the first Saturday of every month.  Whether at that venue in Brooklyn or at his day job in Manhattan in which he often interviews artists across genres, this maniacal music maven is a true music expert whom I’ve known for 25 years.  Over that time, he’s turned me on to a lot of great music from a variety of decades.
