Moving to Los Angeles would be an intense experience for almost anyone but for Laura Marling, who grew up on the English countryside, it precipitated what the folk-rock singer-songwriter – half jokingly – called an existential crisis. Here she talks about that city which was an inspiration for her latest release Short Movie, as well as a pair of poets that may have helped her get her arms around America. Catch her at an excellent Manhattan venue, The Town Hall, on Monday, August 3rd 2015.
Scroll down for another part of this interview that I posted just after it was conducted (at SXSW) in March…

Hi Eric,
Laura Marling. Wow. SO glad I was at the Town Hall show last night. For someone who barely knew her music, I was completely captivated by, and in awe of, her talent.
I’m late to the party — but better late than never, as they say.
