Most family projects involve clearing out a garage or attic. Not this one. When Teddy Thompson, who has lived in NYC for 15 years, thought it would be good to get the family together, he hatched a scheme for an album that came to fruition and was released in November.
The lyrics of the titular song Family by Thompson were written by Teddy and go like this:
My Father is one of the greats to ever step on a stage
My Mother has the most beautiful voice in the world
And I am betwixt and between, Sean Lennon you know what I mean
Fantastic… and true! The song sets the tone for the wonderful album credited to Thompson that Teddy put together with his parents Richard and Linda as well and his sister Kami (who wrote two songs apiece) as well as his brother Jack and nephew Zack who each wrote one. Everyone on stage at City Winery was related by blood or marriage. Linda was the only one who couldn’t turn up for the live show but it hardly took the shine off the apple. It was a great night.
