After the backlash of the Songs of Innocence giveaway and Bono’s harrowing Central Park bicycle accident last fall, U2 may have felt somewhat beleaguered. Whether or not that history had any bearing on their attitude for this tour is nothing that can be known. What is clear, however, after seeing the famous Dublin rockers, is they believe in the new record, they believe in themselves, they believe in the power of their music and using it as a force for positive social change, they believe in America, and they believe in the cathartic and communal experience that an arena rock concert can be.
The production values were nothing short of amazing. The performance was compelling. Take a look at highlights from one of their eight shows during their Madison Square Garden run of July 18-31 2015.
