North Mississippi Allstars – Concert Preview
The North Mississippi Allstars are a genre bending interracial four piece led by the Dickinson brothers who used to play punk together and whose Dad was a Memphis producer. Duwayne Burnside is RL’s son, they use a washboard and Alex Chilton’s old amp, and they’ve sampled Mississippi Fred McDowell. They’re touring behind their third album Polaris which isn’t as cool a title as their first album Shake Hands with Shorty but their songs continue to be rootsy and hip. Neither trendy or retro. Tonight at the Paradise.
